Zardoz e Agulha, 2018 desktop calendar design for M2 Artes Gráficas with illustrations from a special designer in the Portuguese graphic design history, José Brandão*.
This drawings were made in 1975 and painted for this edition by the author in 2017.
It was a honor to be part of this project.

*José Brandão (New York, 1944) Degree in Graphic Design (London, 1970), as a fellow of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. In 1982, he founded with his wife Salette Brandão, the B2, Atelier de Design where he still works in many projects for a considerable number of clients. Professor of Design in London, 1970–71, and between 1977 and 2011 in Lisbon at the Faculty of Fine Arts and Faculty of Architecture. In 2017 he was awarded the degree of Professor Emeritus by the University of Lisbon. Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Fine Arts. Founding partner of the Portuguese Association of Designers. Member of the Board of the National Society of Fine Arts.

Miss Lava

Illustration and Design for the Miss Lava “Dominant Rush” EP.

This EP has songs recorded in the session of the previous album “Sonic Debris”, there for continues to make sense the illustration narrative exploration expressed in the previous album.
Here the band is represented in a psychedelic jam between the 4 musicians, a ritual of delivery and sharing in the creation of the songs.

Poster with metallics and fluorescent spot colors, folded inside a plastic sleeve became the vinyl packaging.
The illustration on the B side of the vinyl is laser Etching.

90 Years Special Edition
SuperBock/ Unicer

90 years commemorative packaging design edition for Super Bock.
The silkscreen label design was based on a 60’s paper Super Bock label.
The typography design was based on the existing one from the 60’s, the new type design captures errors print aesthetics and manual drawing from the original one.
The new typography was used to design the 90 years commemorative logo, to be used in Super Bock communication over the year.

One of the most ornate projects I’ve ever done, searching for a crossover between the romanticism of Fado and it’s the guitar, and a more lyrical aesthetic of the harp.

In the first meeting we agree in not to use computers on the album artwork. We want it to be raw, connect to earth and nature.
Cláudio shoot a photo of Nelson and Arrábida Mountain, I bring the photos in my vacations and during my family naps took walks searching for roots and debris from nature, some from Casa Branca in Alentejo, others from Tavira and Praia Verde in Algarve, where a did the collage inside a pizza card box. The back cover was made at Barreiro, destroying pages of newspapers, old books and pages. Again photographed by Cláudio, and send to production.

There is a Limited edition white vinyl, with a cyanotype by Claudio Ferreira, numbered and signed by Fast Eddie Nelson, Cláudio Ferreira and me.

The most peaceful eyes turn out to be the ones with more tension after the filter.
The final result is a Photoshop® collage, assuming errors and glitch from random selections filled with content aware tool.
